　　“瘦长鬼影”由Something Awful论坛用户Eric Knudson(别名Victor Surge，他也结合编写剧本) 在2009年创作，是一个身段高峻瘦削、穿着黑西装、没有面部脸色的汉子，凡是他会跟踪、绑架、危险他人，特别是孩童。随着时候推动，这一形象对风行文化发生了影响。2014年，一位12岁的女孩尝试刺杀一位同学，据称是受“瘦长鬼影”的影响。这一案件及背后的文化基因也被收录进了2016年的记载片《谨慎瘦长鬼影》里。
