　　在伦敦，一个没有什么道德理念的艺术贩子斯宾德尔经营着一家画廊，画廊里有两个工作职员，一个是野心勃勃的贝丝，还有一个是无所作为的佩姬。
　　比来几天，斯宾德尔掉臂一切地想买一张立体画派的画家蒙德里安的画作《摇摆舞》（Boogie－Woogie）。不外这张画作的仆人——日耳曼企业巨头阿尔弗里德·莱茵古德的妻子和秘书却执意要举行一场拍卖会，她们希望能在拍卖会上将画卖出个更好的代价。因而她们便找来了占有欲极强的收藏家鲍勃介入竞拍。鲍勃正在和贝丝厮混，他的妻子珍也在和一位很有前途的艺术家理查德斯享用枕席之乐，而理查德斯公认的女友却又是贝丝。阴错阳差之下，这些人在拍卖会的现场“搞出了新意义”。
　　与此同时，贝丝要鲍勃给她出钱开办个属于她小我的画廊，她预备为私生活腐败的女同性恋艺术家艾莲娜开办一个展览。最初，展览成功举行，焦点展品是艾莲娜的视频性爱日志。当一切人都聚集在贝丝的画廊里的时辰，艾莲娜忽然和一切人都闹翻了脸，她甚至和自己的好朋友兼掮客人杜威都交恶构怨。她的目标又是什么呢……
