◎简 介
尼克松（弗兰克·兰格拉 Frank Langella 饰）在水门事务后下台，却始终不曾对公众认可过自己的毛病，欠美国群众一个道歉。福斯特（麦克·辛 Michael Sheen 饰）是一个在澳大利亚主持脱口秀的英国花花令郎，在直播中看见尼克松搭乘直升飞机分开白宫时萌生采访他的意念并决议付诸理论。
没有人对福斯特抱有期望，没有电视公司愿意出钱采办他的采访，朋友约翰（马修·麦克费登 Matthew Macfadyen 饰）找来业内著名的消息人鲍勃（奥利弗·普莱特 Oliver Platt 饰）和对尼克松研讨颇深的詹姆斯来组成一个小组，起头停止材料挖掘。福斯特自己掏钱付了头笔的采访费，获得了与尼克松碰头的机遇，而且敲定了持续采访的日子。小组拼命预备题目以便逼尼克松在采访中认罪。尼克松的智囊团也在忙碌地预备应对，他们从不把福斯特放在眼内。正式采访起头，福斯特抵挡不住尼克松滔滔不停的自辩，这一切让福斯特破釜沉舟，寻觅冲破口……
