故事发生在毂击肩摩的富贵大都会阿姆斯特丹，运河当中接连显现的尸身让市民们堕入了发急的情感当中，各种千丝万缕显现，这是一路由同一人所犯下的连环杀人案。案件的负责人是艾里克警探（休伯·史塔普 Huub Stapel 饰），心中的正义感让他决心定要找出隐藏在幕后的凶手。
在朋友约翰（Wim Zomer 饰）的辅佐下，艾里克将思疑的方针放在了当地的潜水员圈子当中，他也是以结识了美丽善良的劳拉（莫妮卡·梵·德·冯 Monique van de Ven 饰）。功夫不负故意人，随着观察的深入，怀疑人的身影终究浮出了水面，但是，在艾里克逐步接近真相的同时，危险也渐渐地来到了他的死后。
