由密契尔·鲍威尔等三位导演结合执导的一部耐久弥新的神话片。故事取材于阿拉伯神话，内容大致描写一个会妖术的奸相贾法，用诡计狡计把巴格达城的阿麦王拘禁起来，然后自号为王。阿麦后来获得同牢的小神阿菩互助而逃走。贾法为了获得公主，把阿麦酿成瞎子，并把阿菩酿成一条狗。最初得伟人互助，终究射杀贾法，让阿麦重新成为巴格达城的国王。导演手法相当同一流利，而且对光影的应用别有一手。此外，本片有很多修建宏伟的布景和模子，应用起来都很得当，交互剪接以后也没有什么明显的破绽。
